Dear Families,
Our annual Mitten Tree is set up in the Hambright lobby. Let’s synergize and fill our tree with mittens, hats, scarves, and gloves that will be donated to families in need. All sizes from infant to adult will be accepted. Donations must be new and are due by Friday, December 21. Thank you for helping to keep Penn Manor families warm this winter!

Reminders
For next week:
Monday – Music, begin part 1 of our “Main Idea” unit test
Tuesday – Applied Engineering, part 2 of our “Main Idea” unit test (the TDA part)
Wednesday – Art, Early Dismissal at 1:30 (we will help Mrs. Kirchner’s a.m. kindergarten with dismissal today. Be awesome role models and leaders!)
Thursday – Monday – Thanksgiving holiday!
4-Szentesy students did a remarkable job this week dealing with the many changes that came our way. A shortened day on Thursday, with an early lunch; 2-hour delay Friday, an All-School Closing; indoor recess, etc. The kids were awesome. I am confident that they will do the same next week for Mrs. Breneman.
Have a great shorter school week and enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday! I’ll miss my fourth graders and will be anxious to see them again on Tuesday, Nov. 27! Can’t wait to hear about the awesome days you have in my absence!
Twin Day!
We had a few twins today in 4-Szentesy!

Dismissal
I believe you already heard, but we will dismiss Hambright students at 12:15 today. I already received word from one parent about a change in busing. If you have any changes, please let the office know as soon as possible. Thank you!
Be safe on the roads!
Long Division Story
Check out our Anchor Chart for math reminders at home!

Here is our Long Division Anchor Chart which we use in the classroom. Use this division family to help you remember each step. This can be difficult, but when students take their time, thinking about each step, they were all successful!
Veterans’ Day
We are grateful to all veterans who serve our nation. At Hambright, we are fortunate to have 3 veterans in our building. Mr. Helm was a member of the U.S. Army, Mr. Wainman served in the U.S. Navy, and Mr. Howe served in the U.S. Marine Corps. On Friday, Mr. Howe spent an hour with the fourth graders, sharing the history of the Marines, some personal accounts, and answering many questions the students had. Thank you Mr. Howe, and all who have served our nation!
Remember to wear red/white/blue on Monday, November 12!

Friday, November 9
Last minute request….
IF POSSIBLE, could you ask your fourth grader to dress patriotically on Friday November 9? The fourth graders will have a special activity/lesson/presentation by our principal who is a veteran. In honor of Veterans’ Day (Sunday, November 11), we will celebrate and thank Mr. Howe for his service (as we thank ALL veterans!).
Students worked hard on their chapter 5 math tests. In order to receive credit back, Test Corrections should be handed in by Wednesday, November 14.
Thank you for all of the teamwork this week during parent-teacher conferences. I truly enjoy sitting down with each family to discuss the progress your child is making in fourth grade. If you were unable to make the appointed time this week, please contact me with a time before school (8:15 or 8:30 a.m.???) next week or after school (3:45 or 4:00???) that may suit your schedule better.
Thank you for all of the help and support you give to your child at home. Together, we will see your child succeed through the rest of the school year.
THANKS!
This week in 4-Szentesy
Happy November! PLEASE take a look at the tab called “Important Dates” for this month. There is a lot going on and many changes, so add those to your calendar where appropriate. Thank you!
There is NO SPELLING list this week.
We will finish chapter 5 in math on Tuesday. Students will review on Wednesday, giving the test on THURSDAY!
Please remember the Early Dismissals on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week. I look forward to some 1:1 time spent with families on Wednesday and Thursday. Thank you for being prompt with your conference time. If you need a reminder, just let me know. Looking forward to sharing the greatness that your children show each day and ways to help them improve the rest of the year.
Fourth Graders have already started bringing in canned sweet potatoes for the Thanksgiving meals. Thank you!
Reminder that if you ordered subs, they can be picked up on Wednesday.
Have a great start to the week and I’ll see you for your conference Wednesday or Thursday!
