I hope everyone is staying warm inside today!
Because of the short days and the day off today, students will NOT have a math test on Friday. The spelling test WILL still be given on Friday. Study them today!
Reminder to wear RED on Friday, Feb. 1 to help support the efforts of the American Heart Association.
Because of today’s snow day, school will now be in session on Friday, February 15. I updated a few things to the “Important Dates” page on this blog. Be sure to check it out and write those things on your calendar at home. Thank you!

This week and next
This has been a great week in 4-Szentesy! The students have worked hard getting back into the routine of a full week. I have been impressed with their ability to synergize this week, especially during math. A few students grasped the concepts in our fractions unit and wanted to help other students. What a great opportunity to showcase our leadership skills in the classroom! Learning from each other is an effective way to help grow our minds and strengthen our skills. Great work!
Next week highlights:
Math: We will complete the chapter work on Tuesday, review on Wednesday, and take the Chapter 8 test on Thursday (last one before the end of the marking period. Last chance to get those grades where you want them to be!)
Reading: We completed work on unit 3 (nonfiction). The next few days have review sessions and the final test will be next Wednesday and Thursday.
Science: The unit is complete! 4-Rios will take the test on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 4-Szentesy will take the test on Wednesday, Jan. 16.
Lots of work “wrapping up” at the end of the marking period! The boys and girls are excited to write their pieces for Lancaster Newspapers’ NIE week. They are taking ownership of the story and will be typing them up on their laptops soon.
We are finishing up our time with Mr. Andrew and Applied Engineering. 🙁 Next semester (beginning Jan. 22), we will have Library Instruction. We will miss having Mr. Andrew, but we are excited to have Mrs. Ashworth back at Hambright soon!
A few students completed a book talk in our Recording Studio. They will be uploaded soon. Stay tuned!
For parents:
Wednesday: Book orders for January are due
Thursday: End of the marking period. All-school Closing. Look for “Race for Education” papers to come home!!!
Friday: No school
Monday, Jan. 21: No School
January Updates
