Have you heard? J.K. Rowling is publishing a new story (non-Harry Potter) in installments online. She is running an art contest to choose a young illustrator for the book when it’s published later this year. Check out the link!

Summer Study Buddy
This spring Penn Manor & Millersville University began a Study Buddy Program. Millersville students & Penn Manor families have expressed interest in continuing this program over the summer. GREAT NEWS! More families now have the opportunity to become part of the program.
While there will not be the traditional, school year academics, Millersville buddies are happy to help with specific areas of educational need. For example: multiplication tables, spelling words, reading/writing, even telling time, are skills we can continue to work on throughout the summer. In lieu of the academic piece during the school year, are there any additional subjects, hobbies, and/or extracurriculars that you would like the Buddies to (remotely) meet about? For example: maybe a specific sport, type of art, music, video games, etc.
Click here to complete the form which will get you matched with a Millersville Study Buddy. Additional specifics can be found on the form.
Did you see…this program was featured in the May 20th edition of the Merchandiser/Advertiser! The article was titled, “MU Supports PM’s Transition to Online Learning.” Millersville students strive to share compassion and contribute to public mission while we all navigate these challenging times.
First (and hopefully last!) Virtual Race for Education
Way to go Hambright! You impressed us with your creative ways to celebrate Race Day and raise great funds for our building. Thank you to Mrs. Gerlach and Mrs. Hanna!
We miss you!
Here is a look “back in time” from your teachers!
Off to the races!
Mrs. Barnett always encourages us to keep active. Since we could not have Physical Fun Day, Track-and-Field Day, or Race for Education (next week, be sure to get some great exercise and maybe share a video with Mrs. Gerlach and Mrs. Hanna!)….the teachers had our own relay race!
The best day ever
As we discussed this morning in our Class Meeting….Fine Arts Day is always my very favorite day of the year. It was scheduled for today, May 7. Because a few students had questions about the day, here are two videos. One video is from our old building. There is also a video from the first year in our new building. Thanks to Mrs. Smith (third grade) who puts this together every year. We appreciate all that you do in creating the best day ever and look forward to next year’s F.A.D. which will be better than ever!

The “virtual” Race for Education is on!
Hello Hambright! Hope you all are doing well sheltering at home! Mrs. Gerlach and Mrs. Hanna miss you and are so sad we won’t be doing our traditional Race for Education this year. However, we are excited to inform you that we are still going to have an event in which you all can participate! We need your help though!
This year we are going to have a virtual 2020 Race for Education! On Thursday May 14th, we want you to go outside and walk or run laps around your house, your back yard, at a park or around your block for 30 minutes. Keep track of your laps! Then send a photo of yourself with a sign telling us the number of laps you completed! Wear your Hambright Leader shirts or Penn Manor colors to show your school spirit.
Please email your photos to ptohambright@gmail.com by Wednesday, May 20th. We will put a video together with all the photos. We will then share the video so you can see other students and how many laps we ran as a whole school!
Thank you,
Jamie Gerlach and Shannon Hanna, race coordinators
