What a great month! Here are some updates on the Szentesy Squad and some reminders for upcoming events.

Reading – students have spent this week doing some “end of marking period” assessments. I will finish those up on Monday, November 1. After that, you’ll start to see reading books come home again for at-home reading with family members. Thank you for reading with your child and signing that your student read at home.

The spelling test for lesson 7 (and vocab words too!) will be on Thursday, November 4.

Writing – students are becoming experts in writing a paragraph. A paragraph contains a topic sentence, 3 detail sentences, and a conclusion sentence. The last perfect paragraph the boys and girls wrote was a perfect costume for Miss Szentesy to wear. They were very creative!

Math – Module 2 tests were completed. Thank you for praising your student after seeing the work they accomplished. The math program we use does not expect mastery. Students will show much growth as the year progresses.

The girls and boys learned a lot in our social studies unit on Geography. Landforms, water forms, the 7 continents, reading maps and globes. They are rockstars! The tests will come home today.

FOR PARENTS:

School pictures are coming home today. If you have any questions on the pictures, please call the 800 number on the back of the envelope.

SpiritWear order forms are also coming home today. Maybe you can get some nice holiday gifts!?

Parent-Teacher conference times are filling up. Please choose a time to meet with me in-person or virtually via Google Meet. Thank you!

Students in our class will have time to shop at the Book Fair on November 9. For those family members who wish to shop with your child, please see below!

Today your second grader was excited to receive a flyer about the upcoming book fair at Pequea. Please see the note below from the PTO. Thank you!

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, November 22nd, and Tuesday, November 23rd. Please click on the link below to schedule a time for us to meet and discuss your child’s progress for the first marking period.

After your name, please indicate whether you will come to school (wearing a mask) or you would like to meet virtually through Google Meet, as we did last year.

Please remember these helpful hints:

·       Look at your calendar, select dates/times that will work best for your family.   Please remember we only host one conference, so it is very important that blended families coordinate this in advance.   

·       A gmail account MUST be used to schedule an appointment.   If you have one, I would suggest you use that.   (Please sign up for the conference and include your child’s name in some way.)

·       If you do NOT have a gmail account, you will NEED to use your child’s log in information to sign up for the conference.    It would be helpful if you recorded your child’s log in information somewhere.    (username=studentid#@pennmanor.net and password=this is specific to your child) 

·       After you sign up for your conference, an email confirmation will be sent to the email account of the teacher and also to the account you used to sign up.   

·       A parent tip:  If you sign up using your child’s account, please hold on to their login information, because you will need the date/time of the conference to log back in for the google meet conferenc​e, if you choose a virtual conference.​

·       If you are unable to sign up for a conference using your child’s computer, please contact our building secretary at 717 464-3831 to schedule your appointment.

WOW! What an amazing day we had on Friday! The students raised over $12,000.00 for our school community. That’s incredible! Thank you to the amazing PTO members for providing an unforgettable day on the Point Break obstacle course. We had a blast and made fun memories. Way to go Szentesy Squad!
