On Friday, we learned about four types of fossils: mold and cast, trace, true form, and resin fossils. Students also participated in several activities, including, making their own molds and casts, digging for fossils, and classifying fossils.
On Tuesday, students will take their fossil finds and creations home with them.
Happy October Everyone!
Our first field trip is at the end of this week. We are asking students to please wear a bright yellow or green shirt, if they have one available. With so many Martic students all going to the farm show, this will help everyone standout from our building!
Also, remember to try to send lunches in large ziploc or brown paper bags. Making lunches as “disposable” as possible makes it easy for students.
As always, let me know if you have any questions.
We have been studying seed plants and seedless plants in class, and relating it plant life cycles!
Last week we finished our science lab on vascular plants. We wanted to answer the question, “What allows some plants to grow tall and still have support and obtain nutrients and water?”
Good Afternoon 4th Grade Parents!
Coming home today is a field trip from to visit the PA Farm Show in Harrisburg, where we will participate in some awesome activities, on Friday, October 4th.
The forms (the bottom of page 1 and all of page 2) should be returned by Monday, September 23rd. It incorrectly states on the second form that they should be returned by September 18th. Disregard that date, as form approval was delayed and not sent home earlier. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Good Afternoon Everyone! As a class we are studying plants and their seeds. If your child finds any type of native species seeds around your town, our class would love to have them. Our class is looking for seeds, cones, and spores. Examples include acorns, sunflower seeds, pine cones, maple seeds, and fern spores. Please try to send seeds to class in a ziploc bag. We will be collecting seeds all week! Have a great night.
Spelling lists come home on Friday’s for the following weeks exam. However, the first spelling test will be on September 6th, due to the shortened weeks for Labor Day.
There is spelling homework every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
Our class takes a pretest on Monday, and a Super-Speller Test on Wednesday. If your student passes the Super Speller test, without missing a word, they are excused from the test on Friday!
