Our Frogs are Looking for New Creeks and Streams

Hi parents and guardians! Our tadpoles are turning into frogs. If you would like one for your environment, parents or guardians must come in either before school or after school until 4:00 p.m. on Friday to pick one up. You will need a container to take them home. (However, I have some extra water jugs if you need a container.) I can also give you a quick care tutorial if you are interested in raising it at your home. However, my recommendation is that they would be a great addition to creeks and streams near your house. Please let me know if you are coming.
Thank you so much!

Thank you for a wonderful 2017!

Thank you parents for allowing me to have the opportunity to teach and get to know all of your wonderful students!  I hope you have a happy, relaxing, and safe winter break.  See you in 2018!

What to expect . . .

Students will have a journal in their Rainbow Homework Folders starting today!   (11/29) Students will be tasked with writing a quick sentence or paragraph about something they read, or respond to a specific prompt from class.  The goal is to make the task of writing less daunting, and to motivate students to put more of themselves into their work. Encourage your student to read their writing to you each night!

We are diving back in to science in second grade.  Our focus for the next unit is:

  • How does sunlight provide a source of energy?
  • How can different forms of energy cause changes?
  • What is temperature and what happens when it is changed?

Assembly and Fundraiser

Today we had an assembly, where we learned about our school fundraiser and new school initiatives. The fundraiser forms are coming home today with your students.

The school initiative focused on optimism. It is our word of the month. If a student is showing optimism they can be recognized, by teachers or staff, and receive a “shout out” on our school bulletin board!

Spelling tests also came home today. Remember, they can be initialed and sent back with your student to receive a ClassDojo point.

Have a wonderful weekend, and as always let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

-Mr. Thompson

Reminder: 9_21_2017

Reminder: Tomorrow we have both a Spelling and Math test.

The math homework is a review unit. It is a packet of three pages. We did much of it in class, in-fact a few students finished it completely.

Below is the Hundreds Chart we utilize in class. Your student can use this as needed.

The assigned reading tonight is a one page read aloud, to practice Oral Fluency. Have your student read this selection to you.

If they finish quickly they can read a book of their choice for fun!

Have a great night!

Mr. Thompson
