Opportunity for Students Interested in a Service Academy

Posted by: | January 28, 2015 Comments Off |

On Wednesday, February 4th at 9:30am, Mary O’Connor from Governor Pitts office will be at Penn Manor to speak to any students interested in possibly attending a service academy (Naval Academy, West Point, Air Force Academy, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine).  Parents as well as any student in grades 9-11 are welcome to attend and learn more about this great opportunity. We have been fortunate enough to have at least one student apply and get a nomination over the past few years, and this would be a great future goal for some of our students.  If you are interested in attending, please email Kim Marsh atKimberly.marsh@pennmanor.net.

You are encouraged to attend this program, which will give you an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers. Your son or daughter has been asked to complete the schedule below to assist you in finding classrooms and teachers. Please bring this with you to Parents’ Night. Students will be dismissed from school at 12:20 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015. If you should have any questions, please contact the high school office at 872-9520, ext. 1809.

PSAT results

Posted by: | December 23, 2014 Comments Off |

Attention Parent and Guardians of 10th and 11th grade Penn Manor HS Students:
Your child took the PSAT, which is a practice test for the SAT- one of the main college entrance exams.  Recently, an assembly was held to assist students with understanding their scores AND more importantly to determine where they need to practice and improve their skills in order to perform better when they take the SAT.

The PM HS Counseling Department would like to encourage students to sign in to My College QuickStart with the unique access codes provided on their score reports. With this free online tool, students can get an interactive score report and a personalized SAT®study plan, learn about their AP potential, take a personality test, explore college majors and careers, and more.

We are very proud of the fact that Penn Manor provides the opportunity for all 10th and 11th grade students to have this college preparedness experience.  We hope that families take advantage of the helpful resources provided to each student.  Parents and guardians should email their children’s counselor for additional information.
