Reading with Mrs. Eby: Our 5th-grade readers and writers are in for a real treat this week! We will be starting a mini-poetry unit! We’ll read, analyze, and discuss a few different poems in order to draw inferences. Before doing this, however, we will do a review activity in order to get our prior knowledge, on the differences between identifying the theme, the main idea, and the summary of a fictional piece, cemented in our longterm memories. Keep staying in a growth mindset, fifth graders… “YOU’RE ROCKIN IT!”
Spelling: Your child received their spelling homework packet yesterday. She/he is aware that it will be collected on Thursday morning. Also, our test is on Friday morning.
Math with Miss Miller: Wow! I cannot believe that we have started our ninth math unit: adding and subtracting fractions! This week, we will focus on adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. Also this week, fifth graders will also begin a new project for this unit. Your child will have a few review problems for homework on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Keep up the fabulous work fifth graders!
Reminders: Friday, 2/17, is a 1:30 dismissal, and Monday, 2/20, school is closed.
Thank you for supporting us, and have a wonderful week!
~Mrs. Eby 🙂
