Week of October 5th…

Hello Everyone,

What a beautiful weekend it was! I hope you were all able to get outside to enjoy some of the wonderful fall weather that we experienced. Below are some ways that we will be working out our brains in order to stretch and strengthen them.

Curriculum News:

Reading:  This week we are wrapping up identifying an author’s perspective/point of view about a topic.  We will then begin reviewing and defining the key parts of a text-dependent analysis essay, and using the “mark-up” strategy to create a restate/answer introductory paragraph. Way to stay in a growth mindset 5th – grade readers and writers!  I know you’ll keep it up!

Spelling: This will be our fourth week of completing a spelling unit online. Group B children should be completing their spelling activities on Monday, and Group A children should be doing this on Thursday.

Math: We have finally finished up place value, I am so proud of everyone’s hard work in this unit. This week and next week we will be starting our multiplication unit, by the end of the unit we will be able to multiply multi-digit numbers – keep up the great work mathematicians!!

Reminders:

This Friday, October 9th, is a 1:30 dismissal.

Next Monday, October 12th, school is not in session.

Thank you for your support and have a wonderful week!

Mrs. Eby 🙂
