Great Summer Opportunities at Penn State

1. PENNSYLVANIA JUNIOR SCIENCE AND HUMANITIES SYMPOSIUM–March 30-April 1
High school science teachers and their best and brightest science students are invited to participate in the 50th Annual Pennsylvania Junior Science and Humanities Symposium,
to be held March 30 through April 1, 2014, at the Penn State University Park campus.
The purpose of the symposium is to encourage talented youth to develop their scientific interests and abilities.
 
2.  WEATHER CAMPS–June 22-27; June 15-20
Please forward this to your weather-minded youth! The deadline to register is June 1.
The Penn State Weather Camp (June 22-27) and Advanced Weather Camp (June 15-20) are resident science camps for students entering grades 8 through 12 in the fall of 2014.
Students can gain weather experience in such activities as launching a weather balloon, simulating a hurricane, and presenting your own TV weathercast.

3. COMMUNICATIONS CAMPS–July 6-10

4. ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE SUMMER CAMP–July 13-17
This camp is available for high school students (entering high school freshman through just-graduated seniors are eligible to attend). Faculty, alumni, and experienced undergraduate and graduate students will mentor the campers, who will use the facilities of the Penn State Stuckeman School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. Students will try their hand at computer drafting and design and take part in hands-on building and model-making activities.

 SCHOOL OF VISUAL ARTS SUMMER ART CAMP–July 13-19
If you know of a high school student with a strong interest in the visual arts, the 2014 School of Visual Arts (SoVA) Summer Art Camp, July 13-19, at Penn State University Park, was created for them. The camp, open to students entering grades 9 through 12 (and just-graduated seniors), will provide an intensive residential studio workshop program across various art media.

6. HONORS MUSIC INSTITUTE­–July 13-19

Do you have a passion for singing or playing music — or do you know someone who does? The Penn State School of Music proudly presents The Honors Music Institute, a one-week immersion in the art of music-making designed for talented high school students entering grades 9 through 12 in fall 2014 (recent high school graduates are also eligible).
