This year, we are launching a new monthly award for Penn Manor math students – the Monthly Mathlete! This award will be given to one career prep student, one college prep student, and one honors student every month. These students will be nominated and chosen by the Math Department on the basis of their hard work and leadership in the math classroom. They will have their pictures posted in the Math Wing for the month and will each receive a coupon for a free MTO at Sheetz.
So without further adieu, here are this month’s winners:
Kelcie Paakki is receiving this award because of her hard work and participation in Algebra 2. She has completed each assignment diligently and has asked questions that show her desire to understand the concepts being taught, not just learning enough to answer each question. She has also shown herself to be a leader in class by going out of her way to help other students with questions. She was also willing to work one-on-one with another student in class, even volunteering her study time in homeroom to help someone who was new to our school and struggling.
Cameron Steele was selected for this award because of his achievement in CP Statistics. He has demonstrated strong academic qualities that have led him to earning the current top overall grade for all CP Statistics students. His positive demeanor and willingness to help other students are indicative of his potential as a leader and is a great addition to his CP Statistics class.
Adeline Porter was chosen for this award because of her work ethic, participation, and determination to understand the “whys” behind concepts in AP Statistics. Her positive demeanor and persistence in making connections among concepts are a great example for the other students in her class. Continuing these traits throughout the entire school year will undoubtedly lead her to a strong conceptual understanding and success in AP Statistics.
Congratulations to each of this month’s winners! Keep up the great work!
