EMT Full-Time Academy

Lancaster EMS Announces: 1st Full-Time EMT Academy Program- “Learn While You Earn”
Lancaster, PA- The Education Department from Lancaster EMS proudly announces “Learn While You Earn” program. This is our 1st full-time academy for eligible candidates to earn a PA Bureau of EMS approved EMT-Basic Certification. This program is a collaborative effort between Lancaster EMS and PACareerLink.

Eligible candidates will be hired as Full-Time Lancaster EMS employees, and compensated at a training wage of $13.00/ hr. while in attendance at our PA Bureau of EMS EMT- Basic certification course (minimum of 40 hours per week). Upon successful completion of the program and after obtaining their PA Bureau of EMS certification, the employee will be promoted to EMT-B with the commensurate pay rate increase to $15.00/hr. and associated benefits. Candidates will also agree to an 18-month employment commitment to Lancaster EMS post certification. EMT Candidates will be recruited from the general population with emphasis on the High School graduating Senior.

Classes will be held at the Lancaster EMS Millersville Station (100 East Charlotte Street, Millersville PA 17551), beginning in September from 1400 – 2100 hours. We anticipate the First academy class to be completed by mid-December 2021 with candidates working effective January 1, 2022.

Recruitment efforts will begin April 1, 2021. The application and employment process will consist of a phone interview, program entrance assessments as well as be personally interviewed by a formal panel of Lancaster EMS current employees. Following completion of all pre-acceptance processes the individual will either be offered a position or placed on a potential candidate waitlist.

Survival in the Wilderness –
Teamwork, problem solving, outdoor fun!

o August 3-5, 2021 – 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
o Campers: Grades 5-8
o Location: Lancaster County Central Park’s Pavilion #11, 733 Williamson Road, Lancaster, PA
o Volunteer applicants for this camp must be entering Grades 9-12 or college students

We are looking for responsible student volunteers who would be good role models and engage with all campers in a positive way while embracing the guidance offered by camp instructors and IU13 staff. If you would like to apply to be a volunteer, please click

Summer Construction Pre-Apprenticeship

ABC Keystone will be offering PA Connection, our Construction Pre-Apprenticeship, over the summer. This program is recognized and registered with the Commonwealth.

The course takes place three days a week over four weeks and is a good fit for: 1) students exploring construction as a career choice; or 2) students who have an interest in the industry and want advanced training before entering a registered apprenticeship. Completion of the course provides credit toward any one of the ABC Keystone programs, along with OSHA 10-Hour Construction credentials and completion certification. The program is recommended for students ages 16 and older, due to use of hand and power tools.

This is a tuition-based program that costs $2,250 per student for all training, materials, textbooks, and personal protective equipment. Financial assistance with tuition may be available. Please let me know if you’d like information on a tuition subsidy. Transportation is the responsibility of the student.

Spring 2021 OnDemand College Fair has started and will continue through April 11! The Northeast Virtual College Fair will connect students and parents to educational institutions throughout Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York states. Students can utilize this virtual asset to help roadmap their future from the safety of their homes.

Participating students will earn certificates after each course completion in their chosen
career pathway program.

• Healthcare

Program held on the following platforms:
Metrix Online Learning, Google Classroom and Edge Factor
In addition to career path specific courses offered through Metrix Online Learning, students will also have assignments on financial literacy, career and interest assessments, resume creation and critique, and business engagement panels.
Earn up to $600 for completion of all events and activities!
This program is available to Lancaster County residents between the ages of 16-24.

Camp for Health Care Career Exploration

Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences is partnering with the Lancaster-Lebanon IU13 to offer a “Health Care Career Exploration Camp” for rising 9th to 12th graders. The virtual camp will be held on Tuesday July 20th, 2021 and Wednesday July 21st, 2021 from 9 am to 12:15 pm for $175 per student. In addition to a live stream dissection, a health care kit, and a health care speaker, students will also be given a free application code to apply for PA College dual enrollment.
