The Naval Academy Summer STEM program encourages rising 9th – 11th grade students to pursue studies in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. For one week, campers create, build and explore in world-class lab facilities and experience real-life application and learning at one of the Top 5 “Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs” in the country as ranked by U.S. News and World Report.
Messiah University is offering their annual Young Writer’s Workshop, Young Filmmaker’s Workshop and Psychology Camp for the summer of 2022. All three workshops will be held on June 19-24, 2022 in person on campus.
The Filmmakers‘ and Writers‘ Workshops enhance student’s creativity, help them understand the future demands of college life and, most importantly, improve their abilities as writers and filmmakers. The Psychology Camp encourages students to explore their own ideas about psychology and biopsychology. All of the options offer a fun experience on a college campus this summer. Both resident and commuter options are available. Cost is between $575 and $699 depending on the camp and housing selection.

On Friday, February 25th 6:30-8:30 pm, at Penn Manor High School, there will once again be an in-person Academy Night for the 11th District of Pennsylvania. United States Service Academy Liaison officers, ROTC representatives and DODMERB personnel will be present to brief on their programs. Information provided will include answers to the following:
· The difference between attending an academy/ROTC and military recruiters · The value of attending a summer program at an Academy · Describing the ‘ideal’ candidate · Determining the difference between a nomination and an appointment
Especially now, with the changes to SAT/ACT standards, extracurricular push, and hybrid learning, it is important for those students/parents/educators to understand the process and the rigors of the application/admission.

The Spring ASVAB will be held on Wednesday, March 27th during blocks 1 & 2.
The ASVAB is a test used for military entrance as well as for further career development. The ASVAB has eight test areas: General Science, Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Mathematics Knowledge, Electronics Information, Auto and Shop Information and Mechanical Comprehension. The test will help you identify your skills in various areas and link them to careers of your interest.

On Thursday, December 6th Hempfield High School will be hosting an event for students to learn about all types of military service, job training, and college funding. The event starts from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm.
Location: Hempfield High school Hackman Auditorium 200 Stanley Avenue Landisville, PA
All students in grades 9-12 will have the opportunity to speak with multiple military branches about job training, college funding and military service.

The United States Naval Academy Parents’ Club is sponsoring a bus trip on March 31st to help families learn more about the Naval Academy. Parents and students will have the opportunity to visit the Academy, learn about the application process, and hear from current “midshipmen” at the Academy. The cost is $90 per person. For students who took the ASVAB on Super Wednesday, there will be an interpretation session on 11/2 during homeroom in room 316.
Students will need their laptops.
If you were a test taker, you were emailed and will receive a pass on 11/2.

Pennsylvania American Legion Keystone Boys State is a unique week long summertime educational program that does not emphasize classroom lectures and textbook learning. Instead, it focuses on participation and personal experience in a model state, complete with governing bodies and elected public officials. It is designed to mirror the structure and operation of its respective state government.
This is a one-week leadership summer program from June 18 – June 24 which helps to develop leadership and pride in American citizenship. Students eligible to participate in this program should have completed their junior year.
If you are a student interested in the military academy this is one of the best opportunities to enhance your application.
Hempfield High School will be hosting it’s U.S. Military Night on April 19th from 7:00-9:00pm in their Performing Arts Center. This event is designed to give students who are interested in pursing a military career the opportunity to learn more about military service, job training, and college funding. Millersville University is hosting a regional college fair with over 150 schools. This event is FREE for Penn Manor students. We will meet at 9:00am in the Cafeteria.
