Camp Schreiber Volunteers

The Schreiber Center for Pediatric Development is proud to host an inclusive summer camp for kids, teens, and young adults of ALL abilities where campers can learn, play, and grow together in an inclusive environment that benefits both their campers and volunteers.

They are currently seeking student volunteers for the summer! Volunteers will interact with children from diverse backgrounds, gain valuable experience working with individuals of all abilities, and make a positive difference in the lives of local young people. Volunteers will help oversee fitness, sports, games, arts and crafts, and other camp activities.

The dates and times are as follows:

June 18-20, June 24-27, July 1-3, July 8-11, and July 15-18

9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Aviation STEM Camp

Calling all Lancaster County students who are interested in exploring careers in Aviation!

The Aviation STEM Camp is for students entering grades 9-12 and will take place June 12-14, 2024 from 9 am – 1:30 pm at the Listrak Building in Lititiz, PA (west of Lancaster Airport). This is a FREE program and lunch will be provided.

This industry is welcoming the next generation of skilled young persons who will use science, technology, engineering, and math in Aviation. This growing sector offers challenging and well-paid careers for pilots, mechanics, engineers, air traffic controllers, and many others.

At the summer camp, students will enjoy a unique hands-on experience hosted by EMU at Lancaster, Aero-Tech Services, Inc., the Lancaster STEM Alliance, and the Steinman Foundation.

Momentum Summer Coding Academy

Attention rising 11th and 12th graders who are Lancaster County residents and interested in STEM – you don’t want to miss this opportunity!

Elizabethtown College’s nationally recognized School of Engineering and Computer Science, in collaboration with the Lancaster County STEM Alliance and Cargas, will host the Momentum Summer Coding Academy, a six-week summer program aiming to ignite high school students’ interest in STEM, particularly computer programming. 

The Academy strives to expose students to the excitement and career prospects within the programming field while providing students with college credit. The program encourages exploration of diverse educational paths, acknowledging alternatives beyond the traditional four-year college route. Students will be exposed to various computing skills including: programming language (Javascript), database creation and maintenance, game development, web development, and cybersecurity.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage with current college students, fostering mentorship and representation, and gain crucial professional skills including resume development, networking etiquette, and guidance on post-secondary processes, ensuring students are well-equipped for future education and career opportunities.

Transportation to and from the academy must be provided.

The following is included in the program:

• BREAKFAST AND LUNCH

• STIPEND ($300/WEEK)

The academy will take place July 1 – August 9, 2024 (no sessions July 4-5) from 9 am – 2 pm at Cargas (101 N. Queen Street, #300, Lancaster, PA 17603). The application deadline is May 24, 2024. Lebanon Valley College Speech-Language Pathology Camp

Lebanon Valley College will be hosting an “Exploring Speech-Language Pathology Summer Camp” on June 24-26, 2024. This camp is open to rising high school juniors and seniors interested in learning more about the field of speech-language pathology. 

Participants will explore augmentative and alternative devices, complete voice analyses, watch swallowing assessments, and participate in clinical experiences. There will also be presentations by practicing speech-language pathologists, a student panel, and realistic clinical simulations. The cost is $325 per camper and includes meals, room & board, camp t-shirt, and all activities. College 101 Night

The School Counseling Department welcomes Juniors and their families to College 101 Night on Tuesday, April 9th from 6-8 pm in the high school cafeteria.

Hear from college representatives from Franklin and Marshall, Millersville University, and Towson University. Topics include admissions fundamentals, choosing the right college for you, and making a strong impression on college visits, interviews and in essays!

ABC Girls Summer Construction Camp

All ‘bout Construction (ABC) Girls Camp will be held June 17-20 at Associated Builders & Contractors’ Manheim location. During camp, campers will learn about the construction process, visit local job sites, and build take-home projects.

Please note:

  • Camp is FREE
  • Open to 14–19-year-old girls
  • This is a full-day camp; breakfast snacks and lunch are provided
  • Transportation to/from camp is the responsibility of the camper; transportation for field trips is taken care of by ABC
  • Priority will be given to first-time applicants
  • Space is limited. Applications are due by no later than April 19.

Medical Career Night

White Chimneys Estate and the Pequea Valley First Choice Program are joining together to host a Medical Career Night on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 6-8:30 pm at 5117 Lincoln Highway East, Gap, PA 17527. This is a fantastic opportunity for high school students interested in a career in the medical field to meet with experts from various specialities, including Primary Care, Physical Therapy, Nursing, Pharmaceuticals, Research, Emergency Medical Services, and more!

This is a drop-in career style fair, so students can arrive anytime until 8 pm. Parents are welcome. Students can register for the event here.

The Lancaster County Youth Conservation School

The Lancaster County Youth Conservation School is ready to welcome a new class of students ages 14-16 looking for a summer adventure! Participants will learn about local wildlife, participate in environmental conservation, and enjoy the great outdoors during this immersive week-long experience.

This year’s program will be held July 21-26, 2024. Application registration closes June 7, 2024 (or earlier if the class is filled). This exciting summer environmental education program consists of 6 days (5 nights) at Northern Lancaster County Game and Fish Protective Association in Denver, PA. There is a $25 registration fee after students have been notified of acceptance to the program.

Note: Students who attended for the first time in 2020 or 2021 may attend again due to the pandemic. Normally, students may attend one year only.

West Point’s Summer Leaders Experience (SLE)

West Point’s Summer Leaders Experience (SLE) is looking for high-achieving young people who are in great standing with their school and community, and who want to challenge themselves. 

What is SLE?

  • SLE is a one-week program for current Juniors (High School Class of 2025) to visit West Point in June.
  • Students in this program get to spend the week with cadets, live in the barracks, and eat in the mess hall.
  • Learn about West Point’s world class academics by trying 5 of our 17 academic workshops.
  • Learn about military training and becoming a Leader of Character at West Point by completing two military days to include rappelling, Zodiac boats, combatives (like Jiu-Jitsu) training and more!
  • Challenge themselves physically by attempting the Candidate Fitness Assessment, conducting physical training, and sports.
  • Complete their admissions interview with a cadet.
  • Spend the week making friends with other students from all over the US who are applying to West Point.

Students may sign up for this program now at westpoint.edu. Their priority application deadline for SLE is Friday, March 15th, and they will accept applications until April 15th. SLE is competitive and not all who apply are offered to attend.
